How to review and set your business policies – Otto

Otto gives every host full control to define your rental terms — from cancellation fees to cleaning expectations. These settings are shown to renters and enforceable by Otto, so it's important to review and update them carefully.

📍 Step 2: Go to Settings ➔ Business Policies

From the bottom nav:

Tap Settings

Tap Business Policies

📍 Step 3: Review All Available Policies

You’ll see a list of editable policy categories:

✅ Similar Car Policy

✅ Cancellation & Refunds

✅ Trip Extensions

✅ Insurance & Damage

✅ Washing & Buffing

✅ Fuel Policy

✅ Late Return

✅ Traffic Violations

✅ Cross Border

✅ Driver Overtime

📍 Step 4: Update Washing & Buffing Fees

This is one of the most commonly used penalty policies.

Choose to toggle ON/OFF the Free Basic Wash option

Set custom KES values for:

Basic Wash

Vacuuming

Detailed Cleaning

Buffing

Fees can be set separately for Small/Medium Cars and Large Cars

✅ Tip: These fees are enforced by Otto. Be fair, but clear.

📍 Step 5: Tap Save & Close

Each policy can be customized and saved individually. Return any time to make changes.
